Adjust your Soltime

Did you know ?

Do you know that, until 1891, every clock in the world indicated the solar time ?

it wasn't the same time in London , in Manchester or in Plymouth ...Then, the hour hand of a clock in London showed noon 9 minutes before the one located in Manchester, which was 7 minutes and a half sooner than another in Plymouth. It's only for practical reasons that a standard time, identical in a whole country (except very large countries like Canada or USA ), has been established. This standard time sometimes may be completely different from solar time. This case is valid in France during the whole year. In Europe , where neighbouring countries are in the same time zone, there are huge solar time differences. Those can be unbearable for our natural biological balance. It is the same standard time in Berovo ( East Macedonia ) and in Vigo (West coast of Spain ), even though they are separated by 2 hours and 6 minutes in solar time!
The inhabitants of these two cities have to live within different conditions of sunlight and heat.

Soltime®'s solution!
In order to solve this problem, Soltime®, gives with its sole hand, the solar time on the central dial, and the standard time on the outer dial. A sun shape, carried by this hand, appears during day time and a moon shape during night time, to act as if these celestial bodies were moving around the Earth (*).
The sun shape will be exactly at the top of the clock and the hand will stand perfectly vertically when it's noon in solar time at your location.
This way, you can synchronize your life with the solar time if you want to during week ends for example or holidays, retirement, …, knowing at the same time the standard time, very useful when booking appointments!

(*) But let's not forget that Copernicus and Galileo discovered that the Earth turns around itself and not the sun around the Earth!

When we are moving from summer time towinter time, we have to adjust our watch one hour backward! What does it mean, does the Earth stop turning for an hour?

This proves that the standard time is completely artificial, and that the human society is going against a natural rhythm by creating the time change and bringing more complications.

Soltime®'s solution!
When changing time, simply adjust your Soltime®'s outer dial (showing the standard time) by one hour and do not move the hand. With Soltime®, we better understand the time change, and the fact that the Earth doesn't stop turning.

How do we know in which part of the day or night we are and when the sun is going to rise or set? How do we know in which part of the day or night we are and when the sun is going to rise or set?

Not by looking at your watch!

Soltime®'s solution!
Having a look at your Soltime, you know right away which part of the day or night you are in, thanks to the hand's position over the light blue or dark blue background. It is easier to know approximately at what time the sun is going to rise/set with the diamonds or month initials corresponding to a month of the year.

Why is it that, the sun is always 4 minutes later than at a spot located one degree longitude east away?

When you define the standard time, you cut the Earth in 24 hours, in other words 24 time zones. Like any sphere, one revolution is 360°. Since the Earth needs 24 hours (or 24 x 60' = 1,440 minutes) to turn around itself (ie. 360°), it simply needs (1,440 / 360 =) 4 minutes to do 1°.

Soltime®'s solution!
Thanks to the outer dial, you just need to know the longitude of your location to simply adjust the solar time on your Soltime®. In Germany , if you are at the 7th meridian (7°), eg. Bonn , you can adjust your outer dial to 12.32 pm , which corresponds to noon in solar time (the standard time in Germany is UT +1). If you are located on the east of the meridian, you will substract the time corresponding to your longitude, if you are on the west of it, then you will add the appropriate time.

I never know if my American cousin is still sleeping or going to bed, having breakfast or simply at work…

You can have in your house a clock settled at the time of those you love who are living in a distant country, but it is difficult to know what time of the day it is: is it the evening (pm), the morning (am)?

Soltime®' solution !
Soltime shows you whether it is day or night. So you will be able to see the exact time of the day where your friends or relatives are living, but also if they are waking up, having breakfast, coming home from work, having dinner or going to bed.
